Body of a man who went under in the South Umpqua River near Portland Avenue on Feb. 27 was recovered March 2 by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team. He was identified as 46-year-old Johnathon Michael Laine of Roseburg. The case remains under investigation as a boating incident.

Roseburg will flush fire hydrants citywide April 1 to June 30, 2026, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Temporary low pressure or discolored water may occur. Water is safe to drink, but run it until clear before washing clothes or dishes.

Firefighters extinguished a structure fire in a single-wide home on Apricot Lane at Evergreen Village Mobile Home Park in Green within about 10 minutes of arrival. Central Douglas Fire & Rescue said the cause was accidental, likely improper cigarette disposal.
