Roseburg Schools to Offer Free Summer Meals for Children
Roseburg Schools will offer free summer meals for children ages 1 to 18 from June 22 through Aug. 14, with weekday Lunchbox Express stops and select school cafeteria sites available in July.
Roseburg Schools will provide free meals to children over summer break, with weekday service available through the district’s Lunchbox Express van and select school cafeteria sites.
The summer meal program runs June 22 through Aug. 14, with no service on July 3. Meals are available to all children ages 1 to 18, regardless of whether they attend Roseburg Public Schools or live within the district boundaries.
Children must be present to receive meals. Each child may receive one breakfast and one lunch per day.
Lunchbox Express
The Lunchbox Express will operate Mondays through Fridays from June 22 to Aug. 14, except July 3.
Breakfast and lunch will be served together as a combined grab-and-go meal, and meals do not need to be eaten on site.
Stops include:
- Faith Lutheran Church, 820 W. Kenwood St.
10:45 to 11 a.m. - Sunnyslope Elementary, 2230 SW Cannon Road
11:15 to 11:30 a.m. - Thompson Park, 1448 SE Thompson St.
11:45 a.m. to noon - Eastwood Park, 2823 SE Douglas Ave.
12:15 to 12:30 p.m. - Creekside Family Church, 731 Newton Creek Road
1 to 1:15 p.m. - Saddle Butte Mobile Manor, 222 Saddle Butte Lane
1:30 to 1:45 p.m.
School Cafeteria Sites
Meals will also be available at several school sites Mondays through Thursdays from July 6 through July 30.
At Green Elementary, Hucrest Elementary and Fir Grove Elementary:
- Breakfast: 8 to 8:15 a.m.
- Lunch: 11:30 to 11:45 a.m.
- Meals must be eaten on site.
At Joseph Lane Middle School and Roseburg High School:
- Breakfast: 8 to 8:15 a.m.
- Lunch: 11:30 to 11:45 a.m.
- Meals are grab-and-go and do not need to be eaten on site.
The district said the program is part of its effort to help ensure children continue to have access to nutritious meals while school is out.
