Heavy snow and strong winds are expected above 3,000 feet in eastern Douglas County and the southern Oregon Cascades from Wednesday morning through Thursday afternoon. Forecasters say travel may become very difficult or impossible, especially near Crater Lake, Diamond Lake and along mountain passes.

A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from late Tuesday night through Thursday afternoon for parts of the southern Oregon Cascades and eastern Douglas County foothills, where 10 to 20 inches of snow and wind gusts up to 40 mph are possible.

Showers are expected to return to Roseburg this week, with the heaviest rain likely Wednesday and a chance of thunderstorms by evening. Drier, warmer weather is expected to return by Friday, with highs climbing back into the low 70s by the weekend.

Crater Lake-area snowpack has fallen into record-low territory, according to the National Weather Service. Annie Springs SWE was at just 22% of its normal April peak on March 28, while snow depth at Crater Lake measured 17 inches, far below the 118-inch normal.

Warmer weather is settling into Roseburg through Sunday, with sunny skies, mild afternoons in the mid-60s, and cool nights. Rain chances return late Sunday night as a colder, wetter pattern begins to move back into the area.

Roseburg hit 82 degrees Wednesday, setting a new record high for March 18 and marking the hottest day of 2026 so far in the Umpqua Valley. The previous record for the date was 80 degrees, set in 2024.
