Umpqua Woofstock Hosts First-Ever Spring Fair In Sutherlin
SUTHERLIN — Umpqua Woofstock’s first-ever Spring Fair brought vendors, shoppers, community supporters, and animal lovers together this weekend at Oak Hills Golf Club in Sutherlin, marking another step in the nonprofit’s growing effort to support pets and families across the Umpqua Valley.
The three-day event was held April 24-26 at Oak Hills Golf Club, located at 1919 Recreation Lane. According to Umpqua Woofstock’s event listing, the Spring Fair ran from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
The Roseburg Plug attended the event to gather video coverage, highlighting the fair’s vendors, community turnout, and the mission behind Umpqua Woofstock’s work.
Organizers said the Spring Fair was created as another way to raise support for the nonprofit’s programs, including efforts to make pet care more affordable for local families.
“We’re fundraising for our cause, which is hosting discounted vaccines for people who can’t afford to care for their pets or get into the vet.”
Umpqua Woofstock is known locally for its pet-centered events and outreach. The organization says its annual highlights now include a March Discount Vaccine Clinic, the April Spring Fair at Oak Hills Golf Club, the Umpqua Woofstock Festival in June, a Howloween Carnival and Discount Vaccine Clinic in October, and the Timber Town Christmas Bazaar.
For organizers, the work is rooted in more than just events. It is about helping people keep and care for the animals that are part of their families.
“We’re passionate that people should have that human-animal bond.”
The Spring Fair also served as a showcase for local and regional vendors. Organizers said the event drew interest from beyond Douglas County, with vendors traveling from other areas of Southern Oregon and the coast.
“We had people come all the way from Coos Bay and Medford to vend here at this event.”
The first-time fair built on Umpqua Woofstock’s continued growth from a single pet-themed festival into a broader nonprofit effort focused on animals, families, and community support. A previous Roseburg Receiver article reported that the event grew out of vendor demand following the success of the Timber Town Christmas Bazaar, with the Spring Fair designed as an indoor, family-friendly shopping event featuring local vendors and small businesses.
Organizers said the response reflects the kind of community connection they hope to keep building.
“That’s what we’re all about — helping each other out. It takes a village.”
The Spring Fair marks the first time Umpqua Woofstock has hosted the event, adding another seasonal fundraiser to its calendar while continuing its mission of supporting pets, pet owners, and families throughout the Umpqua Valley.

Occupant Rescued From Apartment Fire On West Harvard Avenue In Roseburg

ROSEBURG, Ore. — One person was rescued and taken to a hospital Friday afternoon after a fire broke out inside a four-plex apartment on West Harvard Avenue, according to the Roseburg Fire Department.
Firefighters responded at 3:22 p.m. Friday, April 24, to a reported residential structure fire at 2460 W. Harvard Avenue, Apartment #2. The initial report included a possible rescue after multiple callers told Douglas County Dispatch that black smoke was coming from the four-plex and that residents may still be inside.
When firefighters arrived, they found smoke showing from the single-story four-plex and an active fire inside Apartment #2. Crews quickly extinguished the fire, stopping it from spreading to the other three apartments in the building.
One occupant from Apartment #2 was rescued and transported to a nearby hospital. The department did not provide the person’s name or condition.
Firefighters completed a primary search to make sure no other residents or victims were inside the apartment. A secondary search found no additional victims, and crews completed overhaul at the scene.
A fire investigator responded, and the fire was determined to be accidental in nature, according to the department.
Agencies assisting Roseburg Fire included:
- Central Douglas County Fire & Rescue
- Umpqua Valley Ambulance
- Pacific Power
- Roseburg Police Department
The Roseburg Fire Department also used the incident as a reminder for residents to check their smoke alarms. The department recommends having working smoke alarms on every level of the home, outside each sleeping area, and inside every bedroom.
The department also encourages homeowners to consider a home fire sprinkler system for additional protection.
Roseburg Weather: Cool Start To Week Before Sunshine And Warmer Temperatures Return
ROSEBURG, Ore. — Roseburg will begin the week with cooler, mostly cloudy conditions before a warmer and sunnier pattern settles into the Umpqua Basin by midweek, according to the National Weather Service in Medford.
Forecasters said an upper-level trough over the region is bringing scattered showers across parts of southern Oregon and Northern California, though the greatest shower and thunderstorm activity is expected to remain south and east of Roseburg.
For Roseburg, the main impact early this week will be cooler temperatures, periods of cloud cover, and the possibility of nighttime or morning marine clouds drifting inland from the coast.
The Weather Service said marine layer clouds, fog, and spotty drizzle are expected along the coast and coastal valleys north of Cape Blanco. Some of that moisture may reach the Umpqua Basin at times Monday and Tuesday mornings, including the Roseburg area, before breaking up later in the day.
Roseburg’s detailed forecast calls for partly cloudy skies Sunday night, with a low around 41. Monday is expected to start mostly cloudy before gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 64.
Monday night will bring increasing clouds and a low around 44, followed by another mostly cloudy start Tuesday. Forecasters expect Tuesday to gradually become sunny, with a high near 65.
A drier and warmer pattern is expected to take hold Wednesday through Friday as an upper ridge moves into the region. Roseburg is forecast to reach the low 70s Wednesday, mid-70s Thursday, and around 70 Friday.
High temperatures across inland west side valleys are expected to run about 10 to 15 degrees above normal later in the week, with many areas away from the coast seeing highs in the 75 to 85 degree range.
The forecast for Roseburg includes:
Tonight: Partly cloudy, low around 41.
Monday: Mostly cloudy, then gradually sunny, high near 64.
Tuesday: Mostly cloudy, then gradually sunny, high near 65.
Wednesday: Sunny, high near 71.
Thursday: Sunny, high near 74.
Friday: Partly sunny, high near 70.
Saturday: Partly sunny, high near 68.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, high near 73.
Forecasters are also watching the potential for a more active weather pattern next weekend. The Weather Service said models show the ridge breaking down as a trough or low develops off the West Coast. Depending on its eventual track, the pattern could bring a greater chance of afternoon and evening showers or thunderstorms Saturday into Sunday.
For now, Roseburg’s week looks relatively mild: a cool and cloudy start, followed by sunshine and warmer spring temperatures by midweek.
