Roseburg Man Lodged After Reported Attempted Entry And Threats On W. Bradford Avenue
Roseburg police said a 43-year-old man was lodged Monday after reportedly trying to force entry into a W. Bradford Avenue residence, threatening the people inside, and throwing a rock that struck a resident.
ROSEBURG, Ore. — A Roseburg man was lodged Monday morning after police said he attempted to force his way into a residence on W. Bradford Avenue and threatened the people inside.
According to Roseburg Police, officers responded at 7:14 a.m. Monday, May 4, to the 2500 block of W. Bradford Avenue after a woman reported that 43-year-old Wesley Michael Thompson was outside her family’s residence, hitting and kicking the front door while threatening to kill the people inside.
Police said Joshua Schlaht, 35, braced himself against the door while Melissa Schlaht, 39, and three juvenile girls sheltered in the garage. The juveniles were listed as two 13-year-olds and an 11-year-old.
During the incident, police said Thompson threw a rock at Joshua Schlaht, striking him in the arm and shattering a glass candle inside the residence.
Officers contacted Thompson, but police said he went inside his own residence and refused to come out. After about an hour and a half, Thompson exited through a back door and was detained without incident.
Thompson was transported to Douglas County Corrections, where he was lodged. Police said his parole officer also authorized a detainer.
He was listed on the police log as being charged with five counts of menacing, attempted burglary in the first degree, unlawful use of a weapon, harassment, criminal mischief in the second degree, disorderly conduct in the second degree, and parole violation.
The case is listed as Roseburg Police Department case 262692.
