Roseburg Forecast Calls for Mild Weather Through Midweek, With Rain Possible This Weekend
Roseburg will see mild, mostly dry weather through midweek, with highs reaching 75 degrees Wednesday. Cooler temperatures are expected later in the week, with the possibility of the area's first measurable rainfall in nearly four weeks arriving this weekend.
ROSEBURG, Ore. - Roseburg residents can expect a relatively mild and mostly dry start to the week, with temperatures climbing into the mid-70s by Wednesday before a cooler weather pattern brings the possibility of rain to the Umpqua Valley this weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Medford, a low-pressure system moving along the West Coast will influence Southern Oregon's weather throughout much of the week. While some areas east of the Cascades could receive rainfall by Wednesday and Thursday, Roseburg and surrounding communities are expected to remain largely dry until the weekend.
Monday will bring mostly cloudy skies to Roseburg, with a high near 66 degrees and calm winds. Temperatures will fall to around 41 degrees overnight, with a light northwesterly breeze becoming calm during the evening.
Conditions will improve Tuesday as partly sunny skies return and temperatures reach approximately 71 degrees. Winds are expected to remain calm throughout the day. Tuesday night will be mostly cloudy before gradually clearing, with an overnight low near 39 degrees.
Wednesday is expected to be the warmest day of the week in Roseburg, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 75 degrees. Overnight temperatures will remain relatively cool, dropping to around 42 degrees under mostly clear skies.
While Roseburg enjoys the warmer midweek conditions, areas farther east could see a different weather pattern. Forecasters expect moisture associated with the offshore low-pressure system to move into Northern California and areas east of the Cascades Wednesday afternoon into Thursday.
Rainfall totals could reach a quarter to half an inch in portions of Modoc and Lake counties, with a slight chance of thunderstorms in some locations. However, the National Weather Service places the likelihood of precipitation considerably lower west of the Cascades, leaving Roseburg with little chance of meaningful rainfall from that system.
A more noticeable change could arrive heading into the weekend.
Temperatures across Southern Oregon are expected to cool Thursday and Friday as another weather system moves through the Pacific Northwest. Afternoon highs in valleys west of the Cascades are expected to fall into the lower to middle 60s by Friday.
Forecasters are also monitoring a stronger weather system that could bring more widespread rainfall to western Southern Oregon over the weekend. Approximately 80% of forecast model solutions favor a cooler weather pattern, while the remaining 20% suggest warmer and drier conditions could persist.
The timing of the potential rainfall remains uncertain. Some forecast guidance suggests showers could arrive as early as Saturday morning, although most solutions currently favor Sunday.
For Roseburg, the approaching system could mark the first measurable rainfall since September 24 or 25, ending a dry stretch of nearly four weeks.
The National Weather Service expects additional clarity on rainfall timing and amounts as the week progresses.
For now, Roseburg residents can expect a pleasant stretch of fall weather through Wednesday, followed by cooler temperatures and an increasing possibility of rain heading into the weekend.
