ROSEBURG, Ore. — The National Weather Service in Medford has issued a frost advisory for parts of Douglas and Coos counties, warning that overnight temperatures could drop low enough to damage sensitive plants.

The advisory is in effect from midnight Thursday night until 11 a.m. Friday.

Forecasters said temperatures below 36 degrees are expected in valley locations, creating conditions favorable for frost formation. In Douglas County, that includes communities such as Roseburg, Sutherlin, Umpqua, Winchester, Drain, Elkton, Myrtle Creek, Canyonville, Camas Valley, and Winston. Parts of Coos County, including Coquille and Myrtle Point, are also included.

The weather service said frost could harm or kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if plants are left uncovered.

Residents are encouraged to protect tender plants before temperatures drop overnight.
