Cooler Weather Brings Showers And Thunderstorm Chances To Roseburg Area
Cooler, unsettled weather is expected in the Roseburg area Tuesday, with showers and a chance of thunderstorms mainly later in the day. More shower chances continue Wednesday before warmer, drier weather returns later in the week.
Roseburg and much of southwest Oregon will see a cooler and more unsettled stretch of weather Tuesday, with showers and a chance of thunderstorms returning to the forecast.
The National Weather Service forecast for Roseburg calls for a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Tuesday, mainly after 3 p.m. Skies are expected to be partly sunny, with a high near 64 degrees. Winds should remain light, becoming north northwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.
Showers remain possible Tuesday night, especially before 11 p.m., followed by a slight chance of additional showers after 3 a.m. The overnight low is expected to fall to around 47 degrees.
The unsettled pattern is expected to continue into midweek. Wednesday brings a slight chance of showers after 5 p.m., though conditions should gradually become mostly sunny after a cloudy start. The high is expected to reach around 73 degrees, with north northwest winds of 3 to 8 mph.
Wednesday night, forecasters expect a 20 percent chance of showers after 10 p.m. Skies should gradually become partly cloudy, with a low near 51 degrees.
The National Weather Service in Medford said a cooler air mass is moving over the region, bringing temperatures about 10 to 20 degrees below normal for many inland areas Tuesday. Forecasters said showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue through the rest of the week, with the greatest coverage likely Wednesday and Thursday. Some storms could become strong, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.
Despite the wet-sounding forecast, forecasters said the showery nature of the system means many areas will also see longer dry breaks between showers. Drier and warmer weather is expected to return Sunday into early next week.
