National Wildfire Preparedness Level Drops to 3 as Conditions Improve
The National Interagency Fire Center lowered the National Preparedness Level to 3 on Sept. 9 as improving fire weather, greater resource availability and lighter ordering eased pressure on the nation’s wildland firefighting system.
Several Prescribed Pasture Burns Scheduled Near Roseburg This Week
Several prescribed pasture burns are scheduled near Roseburg on Sept. 9 and 10. Smoke may be visible from Roseburg, Melrose, Umpqua, Interstate 5, Highway 138, Diamond Lake Boulevard and surrounding areas.
Prescribed Burn Scheduled Wednesday Evening in Melqua Area
A small permitted prescribed burn is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 2800 block of Melqua Road. Smoke may be visible from Roseburg, Interstate 5 and the Melrose area until approximately 7 p.m.
DFPA to Begin Issuing Permits for Prescribed Pasture Burns
DFPA will begin issuing permits for prescribed pasture burns as conditions allow. Landowners must meet safety requirements and receive approval before burning. Backyard debris burning remains restricted.
Umpqua National Forest Launches Online System for Free Firewood Permits
Umpqua National Forest visitors can now obtain free personal-use firewood permits online and print them from home. Each permit allows the collection of up to 10 cords per year.
Sunrise Enterprises to Celebrate Opening of New Roseburg Facility
Sunrise Enterprises will celebrate the opening of its new Mulholland Drive facility in Roseburg on Friday, Sept. 18. The expanded location will support Day Support Activities and other community-based services for people with disabilities.
