Vintage Street Fair Brings Small-Town Charm to Historic Oakland

Historic downtown Oakland came alive Saturday as the annual Vintage Street Fair filled the streets with antiques, handmade goods, classic cars, food, music and plenty of small-town charm.

The Roseburg Plug stopped by the event, where families explored vendor booths, visited local businesses and enjoyed an afternoon in one of Douglas County’s most historic communities.

Hosted by Oakland Economic Development, the free family event offered a little something for everyone. Vendors displayed antiques, collectibles, vintage décor, crafts and other unique finds, while food booths and nearby businesses gave visitors even more reasons to spend time downtown.

A vintage car show was another highlight of the day, drawing people in for a closer look at a lineup of classic vehicles. Oakland Rural Fire District also joined the festivities with activities for children.

Oakland Economic Development works throughout the year to support local businesses, attract visitors and showcase the character and potential of the city’s historic downtown. Events such as the Vintage Street Fair give residents and visitors an opportunity to shop locally while experiencing the welcoming atmosphere Oakland is known for.

Organizers credited volunteers, vendors, sponsors and community partners with making the event possible. Their work included everything from coordinating the car show and children’s activities to providing signs, power cords, barrels, garbage cans and help with setup and cleanup.

By the end of the afternoon, downtown Oakland had once again shown what can happen when local businesses, volunteers and residents come together. The streets were busy, the vendors brought plenty to explore and the community helped create a day worth remembering.

The Vintage Street Fair was held Saturday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in historic downtown Oakland.
