The Ford Family Foundation Seeks Digital Communications Specialist in Roseburg and Field-Based Director of Community Strategies

ROSEBURG, Ore. - The Ford Family Foundation is accepting applications for two newly posted positions, including a communications role based at its Roseburg headquarters and a senior leadership position serving rural communities across Oregon.

Roseburg-Based Position

Digital Communications Specialist

$31.73-$33.75 per hour · Hybrid

The Digital Communications Specialist will create and manage content for the Foundation’s social media accounts, websites, email communications and other digital platforms.

The position will also work with teams throughout the organization to share stories about the Foundation’s investments, partnerships, research and work in rural communities. Responsibilities include planning and publishing social media content, completing website updates, tracking digital performance and helping promote events, reports and initiatives.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, digital media or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The Foundation is seeking candidates with three to five years of related professional experience.

The position pays between $31.73 and $33.75 per hour, depending on experience. It is a hybrid position requiring at least three days each week in the Roseburg office. Applicants must live within 40 miles of Roseburg.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, although the Foundation notes that the position may close earlier depending on the number of applicants.

Field-Based Rural Oregon

Director of Community Strategies

$172,000-$181,800 annually · Remote and field-based

The Director of Community Strategies will lead the Foundation’s efforts involving community engagement, leadership development and rural capacity building.

The position will supervise a team of Community Strategists and work with community leaders, Tribal nations, public agencies, nonprofit organizations, businesses and other partners. The director will help incorporate local knowledge and community priorities into the Foundation’s broader strategies and investments.

Applicants must have at least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in areas such as community development, philanthropy, public policy, civic engagement, economic development, education or systems-change initiatives. The position also requires at least five years of experience leading and developing teams.

The position pays between $172,000 and $181,800 annually, depending on experience.

Applicants must currently live in a rural Oregon community. The position is field-based and requires frequent travel throughout Oregon and Siskiyou County, California, estimated at approximately 40% to 60% of the employee’s time. When not working in communities or attending Foundation activities, the director may work remotely.
