Ford Family Foundation Hiring Senior Communications Associate in Roseburg

The Ford Family Foundation is hiring a senior communications associate in Roseburg to lead its social media strategy and help share stories from rural communities across Oregon and Siskiyou County, California.

The position offers an annual salary of $87,000 to $92,000, depending on experience. Applications are due by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, though the Foundation says the opening may close earlier depending on the number of applicants.

Based at the Foundation’s Roseburg office, the role follows a hybrid schedule requiring at least three days per week in the office. Employees must live within 40 miles of Roseburg. A relocation package is available for candidates who need to move to meet that requirement.

Reporting to the communications director, the associate will oversee social media planning, content calendars, digital campaigns, and audience engagement. The work also includes writing and editing stories, developing visual and multimedia content, updating the Foundation’s website, and using analytics to assess how communications are reaching audiences.

The associate will work with teams across the Foundation to communicate about rural communities, grants, partnerships, research, and policy priorities. The posting emphasizes the ability to turn complex information into clear, accessible content while managing several projects and deadlines.

Applicants should have at least five years of progressively responsible experience in communications, digital engagement, social media management, marketing, public relations, journalism, or related work. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.

Social media expertise is a central qualification. The Foundation is seeking someone with experience independently developing, carrying out, and evaluating an organization’s social media strategy across multiple platforms. Experience with nonprofit, philanthropic, rural, community-based, or public-interest organizations is preferred.

Benefits include paid time off and holidays, health and dental insurance, a health savings account, a retirement plan, professional development opportunities, an employee assistance program, and rejuvenation leave.

Founded in 1957 by Kenneth W. Ford and Hallie E. Ford, The Ford Family Foundation supports rural communities in Oregon and Siskiyou County. Its main office is in Roseburg.

Applicants must submit a letter of interest explaining why they are a strong fit, what draws them to the Foundation, and specific examples of their communications work. Portfolios, work samples, content calendars, and campaign plans are encouraged but optional. The Foundation asks applicants to use their own voice and perspective in their letters.

The full job description and application information are available through the Foundation’s online job posting.
