Roseburg Sends Off Girls Soccer Team For Historic Quarterfinal Appearance
Roseburg supporters gathered Saturday to send off the high school girls soccer team with a police escort as the players headed to the first state quarterfinal appearance in program history.
ROSEBURG, Ore. - Supporters gathered along Garden Valley Boulevard on Saturday morning to cheer on the Roseburg High School girls soccer team as it left town for the first state quarterfinal appearance in program history.
The November 7 sendoff was organized for 10:40 a.m. across from the Fred Meyer gas station. The team received a police escort through town as it headed to its quarterfinal match.
The Roseburg Receiver attended the sendoff, which gave the community a chance to celebrate the players and coaches before another important game in their postseason run.
Organizers had encouraged supporters to wear orange and black, bring signs and line the street to show their support. Their message was simple: the team had worked hard to reach this point, and Roseburg wanted to help send it on its way.
For the girls soccer program, Saturday marked a milestone. By reaching the quarterfinals for the first time, this year’s team has already taken its place in school history.
