Destination Downtown Roseburg Renews Search for Program Coordinator, With Role Open Until Filled
Destination Downtown Roseburg has renewed its search for a program coordinator, with proposals accepted until the role is filled. DDR welcomes candidates who enjoy building community and want to put their skills to work supporting downtown.
ROSEBURG, Ore. - Destination Downtown Roseburg is renewing its search for a program coordinator and is encouraging people who care about downtown’s future to consider submitting a proposal.
The organization is now accepting proposals on a rolling basis, with the role open until filled. The change removes the previous application deadline and gives interested candidates more time to respond.
DDR said the initial posting drew a limited response. Recognizing that the holidays can make recruitment difficult, its board decided to keep the opportunity open.
The organization particularly hopes to hear from people who love downtown and want to help it thrive, enjoy building community, and work well in a flexible environment.
Room to Build on Your Strengths
The coordinator will help advance downtown revitalization through community engagement, support for local businesses, fundraising, and coordination of projects with DDR’s volunteer board and committees.
But applicants are not expected to take on every aspect of the organization’s Main Street program.
Instead, DDR encourages candidates to explain where their experience, interests, and skills would be most useful. Someone with a background in communications, volunteer coordination, nonprofit administration, or community projects can describe how those strengths would support the work.
Proposals must still address the role’s required responsibilities, including commitments tied to DDR’s funding agreement with the City of Roseburg.
Those responsibilities include promoting downtown, working with the board on the 2027 flower basket program, supporting holiday lighting and pole banner projects, promoting volunteer opportunities, and helping eligible property and business owners pursue grants. Developing sustainable funding is also part of the work.
The coordinator will help organize monthly community update meetings and strengthen relationships with local partner organizations. Other potential areas of involvement include board administration, grant writing, public art, signage, and downtown cleanup efforts.
DDR said it welcomes responses from people interested in helping shape the future of downtown Roseburg as the organization pursues opportunities for growth.
How the Contract Works
The position is an independent contractor arrangement. The selected person will report to DDR’s Board of Directors and maintain a regular, visible presence downtown.
Applicants should propose their own fee structure and total cost. Options could include a monthly retainer or an hourly rate with a maximum amount.
The contract covers fiscal year 2026–2027, with possible renewal depending on performance and available funding. Contractors are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, equipment, and business expenses unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Desired qualifications include experience in community or economic development, downtown revitalization, event coordination, nonprofit administration, or a related field. Communication, project organization, volunteer coordination, and fundraising skills are also relevant.
Familiarity with the Oregon Main Street Network is preferred but not required.
