Rain Chances Return Saturday Before Warmer Weather Builds Next Week

ROSEBURG, Ore. — Roseburg is expected to see a mostly mild Friday before a weak weather system brings a chance of light rain late tonight into Saturday morning.
The National Weather Service in Medford said seasonable temperatures are expected Friday, with afternoon breezes developing across the region. In Roseburg, the forecast calls for partly sunny skies today with a high near 67. Winds are expected to become northwest at 5 to 9 mph later in the day.
Rain chances increase overnight, mainly after 3 a.m. Saturday. Roseburg has about a 50 percent chance of rain tonight, with mostly cloudy skies and a low around 45.
Saturday will be cooler, with a high near 59. Forecasters say the best chance for rain in Roseburg will be between about 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. Rainfall is expected to stay light, but the system will also bring cooler temperatures and breezy northwest winds at times.

The weekend system is part of a broader pattern bringing cooler air, stronger afternoon winds and marine clouds into western Oregon. The Weather Service said light rain is possible along the coast and north of the Rogue-Umpqua Divide, including the Umpqua Basin.
By Saturday night, Roseburg should dry out under mostly cloudy skies, with a low around 41. Sunday looks brighter, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 64. Sunday night will be mostly clear with a low around 42.
Forecasters are also watching for possible patchy frost in some west-side valleys Saturday night and Sunday night, especially in the Illinois and Applegate valleys. Roseburg is not the main focus for frost concerns, but outlying colder valley areas may briefly dip into the mid-30s.
A warmer and drier pattern is expected to settle in next week. Roseburg is forecast to reach about 71 on Monday, 75 on Tuesday, 77 on Wednesday and 78 on Thursday. The Weather Service said temperatures will rise above normal by midweek, though no major heat wave is expected.
