Glide Sasquatch Festival Brings Food, Music, Bigfoot Stories, And Plenty Of Believers To Glide
GLIDE, Ore. — The Glide Sasquatch Festival brought mystery, music and a packed day of community fun to Glide over the weekend.
The Roseburg Receiver and The Roseburg Plug were on site for the festival, where visitors found a little bit of everything: food vendors, booths, kids activities, live music, handcrafted items, wood carving, and live chainsaw carving. The event drew families, vendors, Bigfoot enthusiasts, and plenty of people ready to answer the big question: believer or skeptic?
Jeana Beam, Executive Director for Glide Revitalization, said this was the festival’s fifth year and fourth year at its current location. She said the event began as a way to bring something fun to Glide while also drawing visitors to the area and supporting local tourism.

This year’s festival had no shortage of things to do. Guests could find food trucks, bounce houses, a mechanical bull, bands, handcrafted gifts, wood carving and live chainsaw carving.
Music was also a major part of the day, with performances from Jacquie Roar, Erica Rochel, and Buffalo Speedway.
One of the highlights of the day was an interview with Ronny LeBlanc, author and television personality from Expedition Bigfoot and Paranormal Caught on Camera on the Travel Channel. LeBlanc said he travels the country speaking at Bigfoot conferences, UFO conferences, and festivals, and had wanted to be part of the Glide event for the past couple of years.

LeBlanc made it clear he is not a skeptic. He said the more people he talks to, the more convinced he becomes that people are having real experiences. When someone claims to have seen Bigfoot, LeBlanc said he looks for details, especially in face-to-face encounters, such as what the eyes and physical features looked like.
Around the festival grounds, answers varied. Some visitors were firm believers. Others were on the fence. Another said they were a believer by proxy because their kids believe.
Buffalo Speedway, one of the bands performing at the festival, said this was their third time playing the event. Luke Yates of the band said the scenery, weather, organizers and crowd participation help make the festival special.

By the time things wrapped up, it was clear the festival was about more than Bigfoot. People came out for the food, the music, the vendors, the kids activities and the chance to have a little fun with one of Oregon’s favorite mysteries.
Whether people came as believers, skeptics or just curious visitors looking for a good time, Glide delivered a festival full of stories, music and community energy.
H.O.P.E. Drug Court To Hold 113th Graduation Ceremony July 7 In Roseburg

ROSEBURG, Ore. - The H.O.P.E. Adult Drug Court will hold its 113th graduation ceremony on Tuesday, July 7, at Cascade Hall at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.
The ceremony begins at 5:15 p.m. and will be led by Judge Robert B. Johnson. The event is open to the public and will recognize participants who have completed the Drug Court program and reached a major milestone in their recovery.
For graduates, the ceremony marks more than the end of a court-supervised program. It represents months of treatment, accountability, personal work and rebuilding. Family members, friends, court staff, treatment providers and community partners are expected to gather in support of the graduates.
A Celebration Of Recovery And Accountability
H.O.P.E. Drug Court is designed for people working to overcome substance-use disorders while also addressing issues connected to the criminal justice system.
Instead of relying only on incarceration, the program combines treatment, supervision and support to help participants make long-term changes in their lives.
Participants in the program take part in a structured process that may include:
- Substance-use treatment
- Regular court appearances
- Frequent drug testing
- Supervision and accountability
- Peer support and mentoring
- Help with employment and education
- Family and community-based support
Graduates are also expected to speak during the ceremony, sharing parts of their recovery journeys and the work it took to reach graduation.
“Each graduation reminds us that recovery is possible,” Judge Johnson said. “The individuals we celebrate have demonstrated extraordinary commitment and perseverance. Drug Court provides the structure, treatment, and support necessary for change, but it is the participants who do the hard work every day. Their success strengthens our entire community.”
Program Reports Millions In Avoided Prison Costs
Douglas County officials say the H.O.P.E. Drug Court has also produced major savings for taxpayers.
According to information from the program, 21 graduates completed Drug Court in 2024, with an estimated $4.56 million in avoided prison costs. In 2025, four graduation ceremonies recognized 20 graduates, with an estimated $4.22 million in additional savings through treatment and community-based supervision.
Supporters of the program say the impact goes beyond the financial numbers. Drug Court is also intended to reduce repeat offenses, help participants reconnect with family, improve health outcomes and support people as they return to work, school and community life.
The program relies on cooperation between the court, treatment providers, community corrections, peer mentors, local organizations, employers and supporters who help participants stay connected to recovery.
Graduates Give Back Through Service Projects
Community service is also part of the graduation process. This year’s graduates completed projects benefiting local organizations and residents, including:
- Oregon Department of Human Services Child Welfare Division
- Roseburg Dream Center
- Community members seeking help with résumés, job interviews and employment opportunities
Program officials say the service projects are meant to help participants give back while building responsibility, confidence and connection to the community.

Forest Service Encourages Visitors To Use Free Maps Before Heading Into The Woods

ROSEBURG, Ore. - Before heading into the woods this summer, the U.S. Forest Service is reminding visitors that a good map can make the difference between a smooth trip and a frustrating one.
The agency is pointing outdoor users to its free map resources, including the Forest Service’s main Maps page, which includes tools for planning trips to national forests and grasslands across the country.
For those staying closer to home, the Umpqua National Forest Visitor Maps and Guides page includes local resources for recreation planning, road access and backcountry navigation.
One of the most important tools for anyone driving forest roads is the Umpqua National Forest Motor Vehicle Use Map page. Motor Vehicle Use Maps, often called MVUMs, show which roads, trails and areas are open to motorized travel. The maps also show allowed vehicle classes, seasonal restrictions and other travel rules.
The Forest Service says only routes shown on the MVUM are open to public motor vehicle travel. Because the maps do not include full topographic detail, they are best used with a Forest Visitor Map or another detailed map when planning a trip.
Visitors can also use the Avenza Maps app information page for the Umpqua National Forest to download georeferenced maps to a smartphone. According to the Forest Service, those maps can work with GPS-enabled devices to show a user’s real-time location, even without cell service.
The Forest Service also offers an Interactive Visitor Map for exploring roads, trails, recreation sites, wilderness areas and other public lands information before leaving home.
Anyone planning to camp, hike, ride, hunt, drive forest roads or head into the backcountry is encouraged to download maps ahead of time, check current alerts and carry backup navigation. Cell service can be limited or unavailable in many forested areas.
