Commissioner Tim Freeman Re-Elected To Douglas Forest Protective Association Board
Douglas County Commissioner Tim Freeman has been re-elected to the Douglas Forest Protective Association Board of Directors, continuing county representation with the wildfire protection agency.
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. — Douglas County Commissioner Tim Freeman has been re-elected to the Douglas Forest Protective Association Board of Directors, continuing his service as an ex-officio board member representing Douglas County.
The county said Freeman’s continued role on the board supports coordination between Douglas County and DFPA on wildfire prevention, preparedness, and response efforts across the region.
“This role helps keep the County closely connected with DFPA and supports their mission to serve the people of Douglas County,” Freeman said in the release. “Given my responsibilities representing the County during wildfire incidents, this continued partnership is critical to maintaining strong collaboration with DFPA and our many partner agencies.”
DFPA was formed in 1912 and is responsible for wildfire prevention, detection, and suppression on about 1.6 million acres of private, county, state, Bureau of Land Management, and Bureau of Indian Affairs lands within the Douglas District.
The association works with local, county, state, and federal partners on fire protection efforts. According to the release, DFPA historically suppresses about 100 fires per year, which collectively burn around 4,000 acres.
Douglas County officials said the commissioners remain committed to supporting interagency coordination and preparedness efforts aimed at improving community safety throughout the year, not only during wildfire season.
