Umpqua National Forest preparing to hire seasonal workers for summer
Umpqua National Forest plans to hire seasonal workers for summer, with openings expected Feb. 20. Jobs in recreation, trails and resource management will be based in Glide, Roseburg, Tiller and Idleyld Park. Applicants must be 18 and apply through USAJOBS.
ROSEBURG, Ore. — The Umpqua National Forest is preparing to hire seasonal employees for the upcoming summer recreation season, with job postings expected to open as early as Feb. 20.
Forest officials are encouraging local residents to apply for the temporary positions, which support summer operations across Douglas County and surrounding areas. Duty stations may include Glide, Idleyld Park, Roseburg and Tiller.
Seasonal hires typically assist with recreation and visitor services, trail and campground maintenance, and natural resource work such as timber and land management. The positions are intended to help keep public lands open, maintained and safe during the busy summer months.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old by their first day of work and will need to create an account on USAJOBS, the federal government’s hiring portal. A resume that meets federal application requirements is also required.
Forest officials say seasonal positions can offer hands-on outdoor work experience and may serve as a starting point for careers in natural resources or public land management. The jobs are separate from seasonal wildland fire hiring, which is already underway.
Open positions are expected to appear on USAJOBS beginning Feb. 20.
