ROSEBURG, Ore. — Today is the final day for Douglas County voters to cast ballots in the May 19, 2026 Primary Election.
Ballots must be turned in no later than 8 p.m. tonight. Voters may return their ballots using any official ballot drop site in Oregon, including Douglas County drop boxes. Ballots may also be returned by mail, but they must be postmarked by Election Day and received within the allowed timeframe under Oregon law.
County officials have encouraged voters who mail ballots on or near Election Day to ask postal staff for a hand-cancellation stamp, which provides a visible postmark on the return envelope.
As of the latest unofficial ballot return report from the Oregon Secretary of State’s Office, Douglas County had received 25,465 ballots out of 90,353 eligible voters, a return rate of 28.18%. The statewide ballot return rate was listed at 25.58% in the May 19 report.
The Douglas County Clerk’s Office reminds voters to review and complete both sides of their ballot before turning it in. Voters should also make sure the ballot return envelope is signed where their printed name and address appear. Election officials compare the signature on the envelope with the voter’s registration record.
Voters who have received more than one ballot because of a recent registration update should use the ballot that includes a blue slip of paper, according to the county’s earlier election notice.
Ballots can be returned to any official drop site in Oregon until 8 p.m. tonight. Douglas County voters can find local drop site information through the Douglas County Elections Division. The county has also noted a new location for the Umpqua Community College ballot drop site, near the UCC library.
Unofficial election results are expected to begin posting after 8 p.m. tonight through the Oregon Secretary of State’s election results system and the Douglas County Elections website. The Douglas County Elections Division says it is responsible for administering elections and maintaining voter records in the county.
