The FISH of Roseburg to Celebrate 55 Years With Anniversary Event and Van Unveiling

The FISH of Roseburg will mark 55 years of feeding the community with an anniversary celebration Friday, May 15, at its food pantry on Jerry’s Drive.

The event will run from 1 to 6 p.m. at The FISH Food Pantry, 405 Jerry’s Drive in Roseburg. Community members, partners, and supporters are invited to attend, bring food donations, and learn more about the organization’s work serving local families.

A major highlight of the celebration will be the unveiling of FISH’s new refrigerated van, which the organization says will expand its ability to safely transport and distribute fresh, nutritious food throughout Douglas County.

As part of the celebration, FISH is asking the community to help “fill our new van with food and hope.” Donations collected during the event will directly support local families facing food insecurity.

“We are incredibly proud of 55 years of serving our community,” said Executive Director Jenn Reida. “This event is about celebrating where we’ve been, but also looking forward, making sure we continue to meet the growing need in our community with dignity, compassion, and partnership.”

The event will include:

  • Hot dogs and hamburgers provided by the Salvation Army Canteen
  • Live music by Erik Schnautz
  • A Kids Zone hosted by FEATT Family Network
  • Henna by Christina
  • Pantry tours and opportunities to learn more about FISH programs
  • Food donation opportunities to help fill the new refrigerated van

At approximately 3 p.m., community leaders, including the Mayor of Roseburg, are expected to offer remarks before the official proclamation of “Food Insecurity Stops Here Day.” Organizers said the proclamation will recognize the importance of local partnerships and the shared effort to ensure no one in the community goes hungry.

The anniversary event is sponsored by Rogue Credit Union. FISH also thanked the partners who helped make the new refrigerated van possible, including First Interstate Bank, Umpqua Health Alliance, Coquille Tribal Community Fund, The Roundhouse Foundation, and the Jerry Bruce Community Campus.

For more than five decades, The FISH of Roseburg has worked to address food insecurity in the community. Today, the organization serves more than 1,000 families each month through a choice-based pantry model, which allows families to select the food they need while helping reduce food waste.
