An autism awareness walk is planned March 1 at Fir Grove Park in Roseburg following the Fremont Middle School injury investigation. Organizers say the event aims to raise awareness and invite community participation after a grand jury declined to indict two aides.

The Umpqua Valley Public Defender will debut its Equal Justice Initiative at a Roseburg art show featuring Jerome Sloan. The $5 entry event includes a silent auction and community dialogue. Proceeds will support rural public defense recruitment and training efforts across Oregon.

Umpqua Actors Community Theatre’s Father-Daughter Dance returns Feb. 20 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Roseburg. The evening includes music, dancing, photos and refreshments for dads and daughters. Tickets are $20 per person and available while space lasts.

Mt. Bailey $5,000 Poker Run returns Feb. 14 at Diamond Lake Resort. Final call for online registration is today at 5 p.m. to guarantee a dinner spot. This year’s event will include both wheeled vehicles and snowmobiles as conditions allow. Details and signup at roguesnowmobilers.com.

Umpqua Watersheds will host a snowshoe hike at Crater Lake National Park on Feb. 14. The trip is limited to 25 people and requires reservation. Participants will meet in Roseburg or at Rim Village and should bring a sack lunch, warm winter gear and tire chains.
