Hailey Blalock of "Viceroy & Skipper" is restoring Rock Creek in Glide by planting thousands of native trees after the Archie Creek Fire. The effort aims to cool streams for salmon, rebuild habitat, and help Douglas County residents rethink their own landscapes.

Douglas County commissioners proclaimed Feb. 21 to 28, 2026, as FFA Week in Douglas County, honoring local chapters and more than 1,200 participating students. Dozens of FFA members and advisors attended, sharing how the program builds leadership and real world skills.

Roseburg High School Foundation will host Scholarship Night and Future First Citizen on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at RHS. Social hour starts at 5:30 p.m., followed by a 6:30 p.m. recognition program in the Rose Theater and a reception.

Roseburg crews are removing downtown parking meters and installing new signs for free, time-limited parking. The changes expand one-, two-, and three-hour zones and include updated permit fees for city lots and the parking garage. On-street permits will be available once signs are in place.

Roseburg Schools will host its final early literacy night March 9 at Rose Elementary for families with children ages 2–4. The free event includes storytelling, hands-on activities and take-home materials for early readers. Registration is required and space is limited.

UCAN will open the Roseburg Warming Center Tuesday night as cold temperatures reach activation levels. The shelter at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church will offer check-in, a meal and overnight warmth for guests, with check-out Wednesday morning.
