Roseburg Woman Cited After Two Young Children Reportedly Left Unattended In Vehicle
Roseburg Police cited a 25-year-old woman Thursday after officers said two young children were left unattended in a vehicle for approximately 42 minutes with the windows rolled up and the vehicle turned off.
ROSEBURG, Ore. - A Roseburg woman was cited Thursday after police said two young children were left unattended in a vehicle for approximately 42 minutes.
Roseburg Police responded to the 600 block of Southeast Jackson Street at 11:33 a.m. following a report of unattended children in a vehicle.
During the investigation, officers said they determined a 3-year-old and a 2-year-old had been left inside the vehicle with the windows rolled up and the vehicle turned off. Police said there was no clear line of sight to the vehicle from where the children’s mother had been.
Officers notified Child Welfare.
Nakaia Marie Daughtery, 25, of Roseburg, was cited and released at the scene on a charge of second-degree child neglect.
The charge is an allegation, and Daughtery is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
