ROSEBURG, Ore. – A 60-year-old Roseburg man was arrested Friday morning after a standoff that prompted police to advise neighboring residents to shelter in place.
Roseburg police responded to a reported disturbance involving a gun at 1180 NE Granite Ridge Street at approximately 4:28 a.m. November 6. Police identified the man involved as Larry Scott Haley Jr., who goes by Scott.
Officers and Douglas County sheriff’s deputies helped 88-year-old Larry Scott Haley out of the residence. During that process, authorities reported seeing blood inside the front entrance and what appeared to be gunshot damage to an interior wall.
Law enforcement deployed a robot into the home and negotiated with Haley Jr. until he came outside at approximately 7:38 a.m., a little more than three hours after officers were dispatched.
Police said officers and deputies did not discharge any lethal or less-lethal weapons. No injuries were reported apart from superficial scratches and cuts on Haley Jr., who was evaluated by medics.
Haley Jr. was arrested and lodged at Douglas County Corrections on a charge of domestic menacing and several counts of unlawful use of a weapon and reckless endangering, according to police. The charges are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
