Roseburg To See Warm Weekend Before Memorial Day Cooldown
Roseburg and the Umpqua Valley will stay warm and mostly dry through Sunday, with highs in the low to mid 80s. A cold front is expected Monday, bringing cooler temperatures and a chance of rain from Memorial Day afternoon into midweek.
ROSEBURG, Ore. — Roseburg and the Umpqua Valley are heading into a warm, dry weekend before a cooler and more unsettled pattern arrives on Memorial Day.
The National Weather Service in Medford said a thermal trough will keep temperatures above normal through the weekend. Roseburg is forecast to reach about 82 degrees Friday, 80 on Saturday and 84 on Sunday, with mostly sunny to partly sunny skies.
Thursday’s high at the Roseburg Regional Airport reached 85 degrees, tying May 3 for the warmest temperature recorded in Roseburg so far this year. That was just a few degrees short of the record high for May 21, which is 88 degrees, set in 2001.
Overnight lows are expected to stay mild through the weekend, with Roseburg forecast to drop to around 52 degrees Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday night. Winds are expected to remain light, with some north winds developing during the afternoons.
The pattern is expected to change Monday as a cold front moves into the region. Memorial Day is forecast to be mostly cloudy in Roseburg, with a high near 69 degrees and a 30 percent chance of rain after 11 a.m.
Rain becomes more likely Monday night, mainly before 11 p.m., with a low around 46 degrees. Forecasters said the best chance for precipitation appears to be Monday evening as the cold front pushes through the region.
Temperatures are expected to stay cooler early next week, with highs generally in the mid 60s to near 70 degrees for a few days. Shower chances may continue into midweek as a low pressure system lingers near the region.
The weather service said thunderstorms appear unlikely Monday due to limited instability. However, the overall weather pattern is expected to become more active next week, with periods of clouds, cooler air and occasional showers possible.
For those with outdoor plans in Roseburg, Friday through Sunday look to offer the warmest and driest conditions. Memorial Day afternoon and evening may bring cooler, wetter weather for travel, barbecues, cemetery visits and other outdoor events.
