Roseburg Man Arrested Following Reported Fight Outside Mercy Medical Center

A Roseburg man was arrested Thursday afternoon following a reported fight outside Mercy Medical Center.

Roseburg police said officers responded to the hospital at 2700 NW Stewart Parkway at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 17 after receiving a report of two men fighting.

According to police, 40-year-old Rocky Daniel Kerns was reportedly in possession of a firearm during the incident and was accused of racking the weapon. Police said Kerns left the area as officers were arriving.

Officers stopped Kerns in a nearby parking lot and conducted a high-risk traffic stop. He was taken into custody without further incident, according to the report.

Police said Kerns was found to be intoxicated. Officers seized the firearm and reported finding a spring-loaded knife in his pocket.

Kerns requested an attorney during the investigation, and police obtained a search warrant for a breath sample. The registered owner took possession of the tan GMC Yukon he had been driving.

Kerns was lodged at Douglas County Corrections on accusations of second-degree disorderly conduct, driving under the influence of intoxicants and carrying a concealed weapon.

The charges are allegations, and Kerns is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
