PacifiCorp Invites Public to Tour North Umpqua Hydroelectric Project Oct. 7

ROSEBURG, Ore. - PacifiCorp is inviting the public to visit its North Umpqua Hydroelectric Project on Wednesday, Oct. 7, for a guided look at Soda Springs Dam and the work taking place along the river.

The tour will bring visitors near the dam and powerhouse, fish passage facilities, and salmon spawning areas. One of PacifiCorp’s aquatic scientists will also share updates on the project. PacifiCorp said it has welcomed the public to the project for 20 years. Representatives from the U.S. Forest Service and Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife are expected to attend.

The event is scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m., although PacifiCorp describes the guided portion as a two-hour tour. Visitors should wear closed-toe shoes. Hard hats will be provided.

The group will meet at the North Umpqua Implementation Center, 7200 Toketee School Road in Idleyld. From Roseburg, take Highway 138 east and turn north onto Toketee School Road at milepost 57. Follow the pavement to the right through the gate and park near the Control Center. Signs will lead visitors to the conference room.
