Original Abby’s Pizza Location On Stephens Street Begins Remodel
Abby’s Legendary Pizza is remodeling its original Stephens Street parlor, first opened in 1964. The location will close Monday and Tuesday, reopen Wednesday for dinner, and feature updates and local history tributes by mid-June.
ROSEBURG, Ore. — Abby’s Legendary Pizza is beginning a remodel of its Stephens Street location, the original parlor opened by Abby and Skinny in 1964.
The company said the Stephens Street restaurant will close at the end of business Sunday night as remodeling work begins. The location will be closed Monday and Tuesday, then reopen Wednesday in time for dinner.
During the brief closure, customers are being directed to Abby’s Diamond Lake Boulevard location, which is less than three miles away. That parlor can be reached at 541-672-7781.
When the Stephens Street remodel is completed in mid-June, customers can expect several updates inside the restaurant, including new interior paint, new booths and new tables. Abby’s said the remodel will also include special tributes to Douglas County, the company’s founders and the customers who have helped make the restaurant a local favorite for more than 60 years.
The Stephens Street parlor holds a special place in the company’s history as the first Abby’s location. Since opening in Roseburg in 1964, Abby’s has grown into one of Oregon’s recognizable pizza brands while maintaining deep ties to Douglas County.
As part of the remodel, Abby’s is asking the community to share favorite memories or old photos connected to the Stephens Street restaurant. Photos and memories can be sent to social@abbys.com.
