Historic Oakland’s 22nd Annual Car Show & Shine returns Saturday, May 9, with classic cars, live music, awards, local businesses, and free family fun downtown. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
OAKLAND, Ore. — Historic Oakland will trade its usual quiet downtown charm for chrome, classics, music, and family fun this Saturday as the 22nd Annual Oakland Car Show & Shine rolls into town.
The free, all-ages event is scheduled for Saturday, May 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in historic downtown Oakland. Organizers say classic cars from across the region will line the street for one of the community’s signature spring events.
The day will include live entertainment, awards in multiple categories, and plenty of time for visitors to walk through downtown and check out vintage vehicles. The event poster lists a $15 vehicle registration fee, with goodie bags for the first 100 registered vehicles.
According to the Oakland Car Show & Shine website, registration runs from 8 to 10 a.m., with the show officially beginning at 10 a.m. Live music by Velvet Whiskey is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Visitors can vote for their favorite cars from 10 a.m. to noon, with ballots available at the registration booth. Winners and awards will be announced at the main stage at 2:30 p.m., and the event wraps up at 3 p.m.
Vehicle registration may be completed by mail, email, or at the show. The website notes that all pre-registrations must have been received by May 1, but day-of registration will still be available with cash payment. Vehicles should be 1989 or older, street legal, and insured. Parking is first come, first served, with no reserved spots.
The show includes several car and truck classes, including antique vehicles, decade-based car categories from the 1930s through 1989, a modified open class, and truck classes for 1959 and older and 1960 through 1989.
Organizers are also encouraging visitors to enjoy Oakland’s local eateries and downtown businesses while they are in town. The event is presented by Oakland Community Theater, which says the annual show helps support its local theater work and community programs.
