Heat Advisory Issued For Umpqua Valley Tuesday And Wednesday
A Heat Advisory is in effect for the Umpqua Valley from 11 a.m. Tuesday through 11 p.m. Wednesday. Highs of 96 to 99 degrees are expected in Roseburg and surrounding communities, increasing the risk of heat-related illness.
ROSEBURG, Ore. - The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for the Umpqua Valley as temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 90s Tuesday and Wednesday.
The advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, through 11 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5.
Forecasters expect daytime temperatures to reach approximately 96 to 99 degrees, while overnight lows are expected to remain between 60 and 65 degrees.
Communities included in the advisory area include Roseburg, Green, Winchester, Sutherlin, Drain, Elkton, Umpqua, Myrtle Creek and Canyonville.
The National Weather Service warned that the hot conditions could cause heat-related illnesses, particularly for people who spend extended periods outdoors or do not have access to air conditioning.
Residents are encouraged to drink plenty of fluids, limit time in direct sunlight and spend time in an air-conditioned location when possible. People should also check on relatives, neighbors and others who may be more vulnerable to the heat.
Children and pets should never be left unattended inside a parked vehicle, even for a short period of time.
