Free Summer Meals Returning for Winston-Dillard Children
Free summer meals return June 15 for children in the Winston-Dillard area. The LunchBox Express van will stop at local schools and parks Monday through Thursday, providing breakfast and lunch at no cost for children through age 18.
Families in the Winston-Dillard area will again have access to free summer meals for children while school is out.
The Winston-Dillard School District’s summer meal program begins Monday, June 15, with sack meals available Monday through Thursday at several stops around the district.
The program is open to all children through age 18. Each sack meal pickup includes one reimbursable breakfast and one reimbursable lunch for the day of service.
The district notes that if a child receives breakfast after the time they would normally eat it, the breakfast may be saved and eaten the next morning.
The LunchBox Express van will make the following stops Monday through Thursday:
- McGovern Elementary, 8:10 a.m. to 8:25 a.m.
- Douglas High School, 8:30 a.m. to 8:40 a.m.
- Brockway Elementary, 8:45 a.m. to 8:55 a.m.
- Lookingglass Elementary, 9:10 a.m. to 9:20 a.m.
- Dillard Alternative High School, 9:35 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.
- Winston Middle School, 9:55 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
- Civic Wayside Park, 11:35 a.m. to 11:55 a.m.
- Community Park, 12:00 p.m. to 12:15 p.m.
The summer meal program is intended to help make sure children continue to have access to regular meals during the summer break.
