Eugene Hit-and-Run Suspect Arrested After Standoff at Gardiner Home

GARDINER, Ore. - A man sought in connection with a July hit-and-run that seriously injured a pedestrian in Eugene was arrested Monday, Sept. 21, after a standoff at a Gardiner home, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Eugene police detectives had obtained a warrant for 47-year-old Dallas Lee Silva of Eugene. They confirmed he was at a home in the 800 block of 2nd Street and asked the sheriff’s Tactical Response Team for assistance.

When the team arrived, Silva ran out the back of the home, then returned inside and refused to surrender, the sheriff’s office said. After giving him numerous opportunities to come out, deputies introduced gas into the home. Silva then spoke with negotiators and agreed to exit through a window.

Deputies took Silva into custody and turned him over to Eugene police detectives. Eugene and Reedsport police also assisted.

Silva is a suspect in a July 4 hit-and-run on River Road near Beacon Drive in Eugene. The pedestrian was seriously injured.
