Dry, Breezy Weekend Ahead for Roseburg as Fire Weather Concerns Continue

ROSEBURG, Ore. - Roseburg is expected to see a dry and seasonably warm weekend, with afternoon winds continuing to raise concerns about how quickly a fire could spread.

Clouds are expected to linger through midmorning Friday before gradually clearing. The temperature in Roseburg is forecast to reach about 87 degrees, with northwest winds developing during the afternoon. Gusts could reach approximately 20 mph.

Friday night will be mostly clear, with temperatures falling to around 54 degrees.

Saturday is expected to be sunny with a high near 84. West-northwest winds of 5 to 9 mph could produce gusts as high as 18 mph during the afternoon. Saturday night will remain mostly clear, with a low near 54.

Mostly sunny conditions will continue Sunday, with another high near 84 and a nighttime low around 53.

The National Weather Service said the Rogue and Umpqua valleys are not expected to reach Red Flag Warning criteria. However, dry vegetation, low afternoon humidity and wind gusts of 15 to 20 mph could still allow a fire to spread rapidly.

Stronger winds and more critical fire weather conditions are expected east of the Cascades and in portions of Northern California. Red Flag Warnings are in effect for those areas through Friday evening or Saturday evening, depending on the location.

The broader weather pattern is expected to remain quiet into next week. Temperatures should stay near seasonal averages, while dry air keeps thunderstorms and meaningful rainfall out of the forecast. Afternoon winds may also help prevent wildfire smoke from becoming heavily concentrated across the region.
