Best Season Yet: UCC Women’s Soccer Gets Community Send-Off For Playoff Trip
UCC women’s soccer received a community send-off Tuesday before leaving for the playoffs in Washington. The Riverhawks finished conference play 10-2-2, their best conference record in program history.
The Umpqua Community College women’s soccer team left Roseburg Tuesday morning with a record-setting conference season behind them and a playoff matchup ahead.
Supporters gathered at UCC’s west entrance November 3 to send the Riverhawks off to Mount Vernon, Washington, where they will face Skagit Valley. Douglas County Fire & Rescue joined the celebration, along with Sarah Holborrow, Community Engagement Director with Aviva Health.
The Riverhawks finished conference play with a 10-2-2 record, the best conference finish in program history. They earned the program’s third playoff appearance in six years and its second consecutive postseason trip.
Tuesday’s rally gave community members a chance to recognize that accomplishment before the team hit the road. The send-off was scheduled for 7:45 a.m., with departure set for 8 a.m.
For a program just six years into its history, this season adds another milestone: a new conference record and a return to the playoffs, with Douglas County supporters helping send the team on its way.
