Dynamic Martial Arts in Roseburg will host Master Carlos Machado, one of the most respected Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu professors in the world, for a private member seminar this weekend.

The seminar is scheduled for Saturday, May 9, at the Dynamic Martial Arts dojo in Roseburg. Machado is expected to be in Roseburg from Friday through Monday, with Saturday’s seminars reserved exclusively for Dynamic Martial Arts members.

Machado is an 8th Degree Coral Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, founder and president of the Carlos Machado Jiu-Jitsu Association, and one of the pioneers credited with helping introduce and grow Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the United States.

He is the eldest of the well-known Machado brothers and the nephew of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu founders Carlos Gracie and Helio Gracie. Raised in the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu tradition, Machado trained extensively with the Gracie family and became one of the key figures in bringing the martial art to a wider American audience.

Larry Keith, owner and head instructor of Dynamic Martial Arts, said the visit marks a significant moment for the local martial arts community.
