Winston Police Department will host a free medication take-back event Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to noon, giving Oregon residents a safe way to dispose of unwanted or expired household medications.

WINSTON, Ore. — Residents will have an opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted or expired household medications during a take-back event Saturday at the Winston Police Department.

The event, hosted by the Winston Police Department with MED-Project, is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to noon at 131 Rose Avenue in Winston. The collection is free and open to all Oregon residents.

Organizers said the event is intended to provide a safe and convenient way for people to dispose of household medications they no longer need.

Accepted items include medications in any dosage form, as long as they are not listed as prohibited. Medications may be brought in their original container or in a sealed bag.

Items not accepted include:

  • Herbal remedies
  • Vitamins and supplements
  • Cosmetics and other personal care products
  • Empty medical devices
  • Batteries
  • Mercury-containing thermometers
  • Sharps
  • Illicit drugs
  • Pet pesticide products
  • Animal medicines
  • Biologics
