WINSTON, Ore. — Wildlife Safari has welcomed three new African painted dogs to its drive-thru safari, giving visitors a chance to see the pack as they settle into their new home.
The new arrivals include Kiraka, a 9-year-old male, and his two 6-year-old daughters, Samburu and Mikumi. The family group came to Wildlife Safari from The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens in Palm Springs, California.
Since arriving in Winston, the painted dogs have adjusted well to their new surroundings, according to Wildlife Safari. Keepers said the animals have been enjoying the green grass and spending time exploring their habitat together.
Guests visiting the drive-thru safari can now watch the painted dog family as they explore, rest and become familiar with their new environment. Wildlife Safari said visitors can also get a closer look at the pack through the Pride and Pack encounter, which offers a chance to learn more about the species.
