Warmer Weekend Ahead for Roseburg, Rain Returns Late Sunday

ROSEBURG, Ore. — A stretch of warmer spring weather is expected in Roseburg from Friday through Sunday, with sunny skies, cool nights and only a slight chance of rain arriving late Sunday night.

Friday starts off cold, with widespread frost possible before 8 a.m., but temperatures are expected to rebound nicely under sunny skies. The high is forecast near 67, with light winds developing out of the north in the afternoon.

Clouds will increase Friday night, but conditions are expected to stay dry with a low around 38.

Saturday looks similar, bringing mostly sunny skies and another mild afternoon with a high near 66. Overnight, partly cloudy skies are expected with a low around 41.

By Sunday, Roseburg should remain mild with partly sunny skies and a high near 66. Rain chances increase Sunday night, with a 40% chance of showers developing mainly after 11 p.m. The overnight low is expected to be around 43.

Forecasters say the warmer weather is tied to a thermal trough that is helping push temperatures up across southwest Oregon. Valley highs west of the Cascades are expected to reach well into the 70s in some areas, though Roseburg is forecast to stay in the mid to upper 60s through the weekend.

A cold front is expected to move in at the start of next week, bringing cooler temperatures and a return to wetter conditions. Looking farther ahead, forecasters are watching a stronger system expected Wednesday into Thursday that could bring accumulating mountain snow and moderate winter travel impacts in higher elevations.

In the meantime, the weekend forecast for Roseburg offers a good window for outdoor plans before conditions begin to change late Sunday.
