Southern Oregon Wine Institute Celebrates Four Medals With Sept. 5 Event
The Southern Oregon Wine Institute at Umpqua Community College will celebrate four recent wine competition medals Sept. 5 with tastings of award-winning Pinot Noir and Tempranillo, food pairings, winery tours and more.
ROSEBURG, Ore. - The Southern Oregon Wine Institute at Umpqua Community College will celebrate four recent wine competition medals with a special tasting event Saturday, Sept. 5.
The event, called Four Medals. Two Wines. One Celebration., will run from noon to 5 p.m. at SOWI on the UCC campus.
Two of the institute's 2023 wines recently received recognition in regional and collegiate wine competitions.
SOWI's 2023 Pinot Noir earned Double Gold at the Pacific Northwest Wine Competition and Bronze at the West Coast College & University Wine Festival. Its 2023 Tempranillo earned Gold at the West Coast College & University Wine Festival and Silver at the Pacific Northwest competition.
During the Sept. 5 celebration, guests will be able to taste both award-winning wines alongside the newly released 2024 vintages.
The event will also include small food pairings and additional SOWI wines available at the Discovery Bar. Winemaker Joel Goodwillie will offer optional behind-the-scenes winery tours during the afternoon.
Admission includes the featured wine tastings, food pairings, access to the Discovery Bar, an optional winery tour and a $10 credit toward wine purchased during the event.
The celebration will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Southern Oregon Wine Institute at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg.
Advance tickets are encouraged, and space for the winery tours is limited.
