Sleep in Heavenly Peace Collecting Bedding Donations Friday in Roseburg

ROSEBURG, Ore. - The Umpqua Valley chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace will be in Roseburg Friday, Aug. 28, collecting bedding and sharing information about its work helping local children who do not have beds of their own.

Volunteers will be outside Sherm's from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The organization serves families in Douglas and Coos counties and works to build, assemble and deliver beds to children in need.

Community members can stop by to learn about volunteering, applying for a bed or supporting the organization.

The group will also be accepting donations of new bedding, including:

• Twin-size sheet sets
• Pillows
• Bed-in-a-bag sets
• Blankets
• Comforters
• Handmade quilts

Sleep in Heavenly Peace operates under the motto, "No kid sleeps on the floor in our town."

Volunteers will also have information available about the Umpqua Valley chapter's next bed build, which is planned for September at Lowe's in Roseburg.

The organization builds beds with the help of community volunteers before delivering them, along with mattresses and bedding, to qualifying families.
