Saving Grace to Waive Pet Adoption Fees October 16-17
Saving Grace Humane Society will waive adoption fees for dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens October 16–17 at its Roseburg shelter. The event is open to approved adopters and concludes the shelter’s participation in the ASPCA’s Rescue Effect campaign.
ROSEBURG, Ore. - Saving Grace Humane Society will waive adoption fees for dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens October 16–17 during its final adoption event of the ASPCA’s three-month Rescue Effect campaign.
The event will take place at the organization’s Roseburg shelter. Approved adopters will have fees waived that normally range from $25 to $225, depending on the animal.
Friday’s adoption hours are noon to 6:30 p.m. From 11:45 a.m. to 3 p.m., 104.5 SAM-FM and Dreams and Vibes Co. will also be on-site with music, dirty sodas, and rolled ice cream. Visitors are welcome to attend even if they are not planning to adopt.
Melissa Owens, Saving Grace’s development director, said support from the ASPCA allows the shelter to reduce the upfront cost of adoption through the fee-waived events. She encouraged people considering a pet to visit and meet the available animals.
The October event is Saving Grace’s third and final fee-waived adoption event tied to this year’s Rescue Effect campaign, which began in August. The national effort promotes adoption and fostering and provides funding to participating animal shelters and rescue organizations.
According to the release, the ASPCA is providing $2 million in grants nationwide this year to help cover adoption fees and support shelter operations.
Saving Grace said adoptions help make room for additional animals needing shelter and care. Fostering provides another way for residents to help by temporarily caring for animals outside the shelter.
The nonprofit serves Douglas County through animal sheltering, protection, and community services, including care for animals awaiting adoption or reunification with their families.
Information about available animals and adoption procedures is available at savinggracehumanesociety.org.
