Roseburg’s Warm October Weather to Give Way to Weekend Highs in the 60s
Roseburg’s warm, dry weather will continue through Thursday, with highs reaching about 85 degrees. A cold front is expected to bring a sharp weekend cooldown, dropping highs into the upper 60s, with little rain expected.
Roseburg’s sunny, warm start to October is expected to continue through Thursday before a cold front brings a noticeable cooldown heading into the weekend.
The local forecast calls for a high near 82 degrees Monday, with temperatures reaching about 85 by Thursday. Overnight lows will generally fall into the upper 40s and low 50s, providing cooler conditions after the afternoon warmth.
By Saturday, Roseburg’s high is forecast to reach just 68 degrees, followed by about 69 on Sunday. That would put afternoon temperatures roughly 17 degrees below Thursday’s expected high.
The National Weather Service in Medford said a strong ridge of high pressure will keep warm, dry weather in place across the region for much of the week. Temperatures across southern Oregon and northern California are expected to run about 10 to 20 degrees above normal for early October, with some locations potentially tying or breaking daily records.
Forecasters do not expect the heat to require advisories, largely because the warmest conditions will last only a few hours each day and temperatures will cool overnight. People sensitive to heat should still take care during the afternoon.
The dry weather also means continued concern about fire starts. Although winds are not expected to reach the levels needed for critical fire weather conditions through Thursday, dry grasses and other vegetation remain vulnerable. Forecasters urged extra care with activities that could produce sparks, including yard work and towing trailers with chains that could drag on the road.
A cold front is expected to move through Friday as the ridge weakens. Roseburg’s high is forecast to ease to around 80 that day before dropping more sharply Saturday.
The change may bring little rain. Regional precipitation chances have been trending downward, and Roseburg’s current forecast calls for mostly sunny skies Saturday and sunshine Sunday.
Cooler conditions are expected to hold through at least Sunday, with more uncertainty about the weather beyond the weekend.
