ROSEBURG, Ore. - A Roseburg woman was arrested Thursday, October 8, after police said her 2-year-old twin sons tested positive for methamphetamine and cannabinoids.

According to the Roseburg Police patrol log, detectives received a report of the positive results following a hair strand analysis. Police said their investigation found the children had been left unsupervised with their mother, 29-year-old Brittany Rose Shepherd.

A housemate later found the children holding vape pens, with spilled bong water on their clothing and a spilled bottle of prescription medications nearby, according to police.

Detectives contacted Shepherd at her residence in the 2000 block of NE Stephens Street at approximately 11:15 a.m. She was arrested on charges of second-degree child neglect and recklessly endangering another person, then booked into Douglas County Corrections.

The patrol log did not provide information about the children’s current condition or placement. The charges are allegations, and Shepherd is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
