Roseburg Library Seeks Community Input As Summer Reading Plans Take Shape
Roseburg Public Library is asking the community to help shape its 2026 Summer Reading Program. Residents can take the “2026 SRP Survey” at RoseburgPublicLibrary.org, email feedback, or pick up a paper copy at the library. Responses are due by Saturday, April 11.
Roseburg Public Library is asking the community to help shape this year’s Summer Reading Program before activities begin in June. The 2026 program will run from June 1 through Aug. 22 and will carry the theme “Plant a Seed, Read.”
Library staff are gathering feedback through a public survey that will help decide how the adult portion of the program is structured, while also inviting children and teens to suggest grand prize ideas. Responses must be submitted by Saturday, April 11. People can participate online through the library’s website, by emailing feedback to kwiley@roseburgor.gov, or by filling out a paper survey at the library.
For adults, one option under consideration continues the library’s recent format of themed reading prompts. That version asks participants to read or listen to books that fit a variety of categories, with completed entries earning chances in a random grand prize drawing. Other possible formats include a board-game-style “Summer Reading-opoly” challenge or a reading-time model in which participants log minutes spent reading and qualify for the prize drawing after reaching 2,700 minutes, or 45 hours.
The library is also asking younger readers for ideas for a grand prize valued between $100 and $200. Past prizes have included items such as a hoverboard, a bicycle and a family package to TenDown Bowling & Entertainment in Roseburg. Grand prizes are funded by the Friends of the Roseburg Public Library.
Summer programming will also include special events, with the library already planning its annual Harry Potter Day for Saturday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A full summer events schedule is expected to be posted by Tuesday, May 12.
