Riverbend Live Closes 30th Anniversary Season With ‘Into the Woods Jr.’

WINSTON, Ore. - Riverbend Live! will bring its 30th anniversary season to a close this weekend with two performances of Into the Woods Jr. at Riverbend Park in Winston.
The Riverbend Live! Youth Theater will present the musical at 7 p.m. Friday, July 31, and Saturday, Aug. 1, at the park’s outdoor amphitheater. Admission is free.
After five weeks of blues, rock, tribute music and cowboy poetry, the final weekend will place young performers from the Winston-Dillard area in the spotlight. The production features students between the ages of 8 and 17.
Into the Woods Jr. is an adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical that brings several familiar fairy-tale stories together. Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and his beanstalk, Prince Charming and the Witch are among the characters whose wishes and adventures become connected as the story unfolds.
The musical explores what happens after characters receive what they thought they wanted, combining humor, music and familiar stories with a reminder to be careful what you wish for.
The two-night production concludes a milestone summer for Riverbend Live!, which has offered free outdoor entertainment in Winston for three decades. The 2026 season opened June 26 with blues-rock performer Colin James and continued with Shemekia Copeland, Good Vibrations, Ronnie Baker Brooks and a night of cowboy poetry and Western music.
Audience members are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs, along with dinner and drinks if desired. Food trucks will not be available during the youth theater performances. Pets and smoking are not permitted inside the venue area.
Both performances begin at 7 p.m. at the Riverbend Park Outdoor Amphitheater in Winston.
