Reedsport Woman Killed, 2-Year-Old Son Injured After Being Struck on Highway 101
A 34-year-old Reedsport woman was killed and her 2-year-old son suffered minor injuries after they were struck by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon at Highway 101 and 19th Street. Police are continuing to investigate.
REEDSPORT, Ore. - A 34-year-old Reedsport woman was killed and her 2-year-old son suffered minor injuries after the two were struck by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon in Reedsport.
Reedsport Police Department officers responded at approximately 4 p.m. Aug. 12 to the intersection of U.S. Highway 101 and 19th Street.
When officers arrived, they found several citizens already providing aid to the woman and child.
The woman did not survive her injuries. Her 2-year-old son was transported to Lower Umpqua Hospital, where police said he was treated for minor injuries and later reunited with his father.
Police have not released the identity of the woman or additional details about the driver or circumstances leading up to the crash.
The Reedsport Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident with assistance from Oregon State Police and the Coos Bay Police Department.
Additional information is expected to be released as the investigation continues.
