WINSTON — Winston now has its first marijuana dispensary operating within city limits.

Redbarn Dispensary opened last week at 161 N. Main St., becoming the first cannabis retailer to open in Winston since recreational marijuana was legalized in Oregon. The business is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The opening follows years of local debate over whether dispensaries should be allowed in Winston. In November 2020, Winston voters rejected a measure that would have allowed dispensaries, with about 54% opposed and 45% in favor.

Dispensaries were later allowed after the Winston City Council approved Ordinance No. 75-724 in August 2025, adopting changes that permitted recreational marijuana facilities.

Redbarn’s Winston location is currently in a soft-opening phase ahead of a ribbon cutting scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday and a grand opening planned for April 17.

The store offers a variety of THC and CBD products, including flower, concentrates, pre-rolled joints, blunts and edibles. It also carries glassware, cartridge batteries, rolling papers, lighters and branded merchandise.

The business is operating out of a former bank building that has been remodeled for its new use. The old bank vault remains in place and is now being used for storage.

Redbarn is also planning a drive-through service for customers who order online, which would be a first not only for Winston, but for Douglas County as well.

The move is also expected to bring new local tax revenue to Winston through the city’s 3% tax on retail recreational marijuana sales, which city officials have previously said could support city services.
