Partial Ford’s Pond Trail Closure Planned April 28-29 For Herbicide Treatment
A portion of the Ford’s Pond loop trail will be closed April 28-29 while crews treat invasive species as part of a prairie restoration project. The rest of the loop will remain open.
SUTHERLIN, Ore. — A portion of the Ford’s Pond loop trail will be closed Tuesday, April 28, through Wednesday, April 29, while crews apply herbicide to invasive species in the northwest portion of the park.
Friends of Ford’s Pond said the closure will affect the section of the pond loop trail between the Highway 138 parking lot and the bird observation area. The remainder of the pond loop trail is expected to remain open.
The treatment is part of a prairie restoration project at Ford’s Pond. Organizers said the work is intended to reduce invasive plants and help increase native wildflowers in the area.
Visitors are asked to avoid the closed section of trail during the treatment period.
