Pacific Power to Match Donations That Help Oregon Households Pay Energy Bills
Pacific Power will match donations to the Oregon Energy Fund dollar for dollar, up to $72,000. Contributions stay in the donor’s home county, helping eligible Douglas County households pay energy bills.
Pacific Power customers in Douglas County can help neighbors pay their energy bills through a donation program that keeps contributions in the donor’s home county.
The utility announced Oct. 5 that it will match customer donations to the Oregon Energy Fund dollar for dollar, up to $72,000. The nonprofit verifies eligibility and distributes assistance to households needing help with energy costs.
Customers receiving paper bills can look for an Oregon Energy Fund donation envelope in their October statement. Donations can also be made through Pacific Power’s website or by calling 1-888-221-7070.
For those who prefer to give throughout the year, Pacific Power offers a fixed monthly donation option starting at $1, added to the customer’s bill. Those contributions also qualify for the matching program.
According to Pacific Power, every dollar donated stays in the donor’s home county. Contributions from Douglas County residents would therefore support eligible households locally. Donations may be tax-deductible.
Brian Allbritton, executive director of the Oregon Energy Fund, said the assistance helps families manage energy costs alongside other needs, including food, housing, and care for their children.
Pacific Power said contributions from the company, its customers, and employees helped 2,601 Oregonians pay their energy bills last year. That included 411 seniors, 418 people with disabilities, and 869 children.
Customers who need help with their own bills can also call 1-888-221-7070. Pacific Power representatives can discuss payment plans and connect customers with local agencies that offer additional assistance.
