ODOT: Oregon 42 Project In Winston Continues With Night Work In Early April

The long-running Oregon 42 improvement project in Winston is continuing, with ODOT announcing new nighttime construction planned over the next two weeks. According to a March 26 update, road work is scheduled along Oregon 42 in Winston from March 29 through April 11, covering the stretch from Lookingglass Creek through the Cheetah intersection to Lookingglass Road.

ODOT said drivers should expect intermittent lane closures from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday nights through Friday mornings, with flaggers providing traffic control as needed. During that time, contractors will be working on utility adjustments and pavement repairs.

The project is not new to local drivers, but the latest update shows work is still actively moving forward. The broader project includes resurfacing a five-mile section of Oregon 42 between Winston and Interstate 5, adding safety improvements through the Green District, installing a new traffic signal at Rolling Hills Road, and upgrading curb ramps for pedestrians.

ODOT says the work is part of a two-year project that began in February 2025 and is expected to be completed by Sept. 30, 2026. The agency also noted that the new traffic signal at Rolling Hills Road and Grange Road began operating in December 2025.

Motorists traveling through Winston over the next couple of weeks should watch for construction signs, crews and construction vehicles during overnight hours.
